Beverly Hills – EARTH DAY

Join us for our 15th Annual Earth Day event on Sunday, April 15, 2018 from 9AM-1PM at the Beverly Hills Farmers’ Market, located along Third Street, between Civic Center Drive and Foothill Road.
Hosted by the Public Works Department, this free public city event brings global environmental awareness locally to Beverly Hills. Learn more about water conservation, drought tolerant planting, earthquake preparedness, smart bikes, alternative energy and much more! Free compost (limited quantities) and document shredding will be available again this year.
Rancho Palos Verdes – EARTH DAY

LOCATION: Promenade on the Peninsula
The Cities of Rolling Hills Estates, Rolling Hills and Rancho Palos Verdes, in partnership with Waste Management, South Bay Environmental Services Center and Promenade on the Peninsula, is hosting an Earth Day Celebration on Wednesday, April 18 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Promenade on the Peninsula.
Located in the fountain area of the Promenade shopping center, the event will feature fun and educational activities and giveaways for all. There will also be FREE paper shredding available – the truck will be parked in the lot adjacent to El Pollo Inka.
This FREE event will highlight great environmental initiatives around the community and provide opportunities to learn more about water conservation, storm water pollution prevention and energy efficiency.
Promenade on the Peninsula is located on Silver Spur Road between Hawthorne and Crenshaw Boulevards. All stores and restaurants will be open during the event.
Redondo Beach – EARTH DAY

FREE Compost Giveaway
Athens Services will be giving out free compost on Saturday, April 21, 2018 between 8:00 AM and 12:00 PM at Wilderness Park located 1102 Camino Real, Redondo Beach, CA 90277. Bring your own sturdy containers – plastic bags will not be accepted. Shovels will be provided. Limit of 30 gallons of compost per person, while supplies last

Torrance – EARTH DAY RECYCLING

Limit of 8 boxes or bags per vehicle (secure information only-no books, 3-ring binders, large clips or magazines).
Free Electronics Recycling Drop-Off
TVs, monitors, cell phones, small appliances and other electronics for safe and responsible recycling.
Do NOT bring any hazardous materials to this event.
Hazardous waste includes items such as paint, batteries, medications, glues, fluorescent bulbs and chemicals such as pesticides, cleaners and insect repellents. These types of items will not be accepted at this event.
South Gate – EARTH DAY

Duarte & Bradbury – EARTH DAY
DATE/TIME: April 21st, 2018 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Duarte and Bradbury will honor the Earth with a variety of joint community volunteer projects starting at 9:00 am on Saturday, April 21st at the Duarte Teen Center. This year’s Earth Day celebration, sponsored by the City of Duarte, the City of Bradbury, Burrtec Waste Industries, Southern California Edison, and the Volunteer Center of the San Gabriel Valley will include the planting of drought tolerant plants, cleaning Duarte parks, beautifying green spaces in Bradbury and trash pickup in retail parking lots along Huntington Drive.
Some 70 volunteers including 50 teens from the Duarte Area Resource Team (D.A.R.T), Cardinals Helping Youth Live Life (CHYLL), are expected to participate in the day’s activities along with staff from Duarte and Bradbury. A continental breakfast and guest speaker will kick off Earth Day activities at 9:00 am. Mayors of both City’s will also be on hand to officially welcome and thank the volunteers. The day will conclude with lunch, and participation in arts and crafts, and other educational activities.

Join us for a day of earth-friendly fun as we celebrate our 3rd Annual Citywide EARTH DAY LA! LA Sanitation will again bring our trucks for kids to explore, and we’ll have plenty of educational (and fun!) exhibits for the whole family to learn about sustainability. Last year we had over 50 exhibitors, and there will be more this year. In the spirit of environmental awareness, we hope that you will consider taking public transportation to the event.
