Food Finders: Rescuing Food, Reducing Hunger

Food Finders is an organization dedicated to eliminating hunger and food waste, while improving nutrition in food insecure communities. The organization works with more than 600 grocery stores, restaurants, food manufacturers, hotels, bakeries, hospitals, schools and others across Southern California to deliver good, wholesome food directly to pantries and shelters. Kaiser Permante is now partnering with Food Finders to donate hundreds of pounds of tasty, healthy food from its cafeterias to feed those in need. Kaiser locations that have signed on include Anaheim, Downey, Irvine, Los Angeles, South Bay, Panorama City, and Woodland Hills with the hope of engaging more locations. This partnership further promotes community health by providing access to healthy food those for the food insecure which also reduces Kaiser’s environmental impact due to the reduction in food waste.

Last year, Food Finders surpassed their goal of redistributing 8.5 million pounds of donated food. This amounted to more than 7 million meals provided for children, families, homeless, seniors, and students struggling with food insecurity. Their goal for 2017 is 9 million pounds of food. With the help of more than 300 volunteers, Food Finders continues their efforts to positively impact our communities and the environment.
