Smog Vacuum Cleaner…Cleaning One City at a Time

“We humans have created machines to enhance ourselves. we invented the wheel and cars to liberate ourselves and to travel. But now these machines are striking back, making air extremely polluted in high-density cities such as Beijing. I believe we should do more, not less, and make modern cities livable again.”

Under the Smog Free Project, Dutch designer Daan Roosegaarde and his team of experts have created the Smog Free Tower, the world’s largest smog vacuum cleaner. It aims to create “smog-free bubbles of public space, allowing people to breathe and experience clean air for free.” The first launch is now up and running in Rotterdam and will travel around the world with the next planned stop in Beijing. Los Angeles, Mexico City, and Mumbai are among other possible locations.

The first Smog Free Tower uses patented ion technology and cleans 30.000m3 per hour while running on  a mere 1400 watts of green energy.
