Thanksgiving with Sustainability in mind

The time is upon the land of LARA when life’s pace slows down, the weather cools down, we remember our military veterans, and families gather around a great feast.

Thanksgiving is a time of great memories and amazing amounts of food. Have you considered the compost heap as part of the feast? It is very hungry for any scraps that come from preparing your family’s favorite dish; even the leftovers. A compost heap is also a great place to put any yard trimmings and dead leaves. A compost heap is not a picky eater! Placing worms inside your compost heap will increase the composting process greatly.

Don’t have a composting system at your home? Do not worry! Composting could never be as quick and as simple as it is now. The City of Los Angeles has composting workshops twice a month at the Griffith Park Compost Facility. There you can establish a foundation of composting success. You can also purchase composting units at the Griffith Park Compost Facility (only available to city of Los Angeles Residents). The Compost facility is located at 5400 Griffith Park Drive, Los Angeles, Ca 90027.
